BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 24. The number of electric cars in Türkiye in 2024 increased by 129.6 percent compared to the previous year and reached 183,776 units, Trend reports via the Turkish Statistical Institute.
Furthermore, it is noted that the number of hybrid cars reached 391,296 during the same period. Whereas 24 electric cars were registered in 2011, this number reached 952 in 2018.
However, if the number of hybrid cars totaled 33,690 in 2020, it rose to 391,296 by the end of last year. Thus, the number of hybrid cars has increased 12 times in five years.
During this period, the growth in the number of gasoline, diesel, and LPG vehicles remained limited. The number of gasoline-powered vehicles increased by 53.3 percent over the five years, from 3.2 million to 4.9 million. The number of diesel-engine vehicles increased from 5 million to 5.5 million during the reporting period. However, the number of vehicles utilizing liquefied petroleum gas increased from 4.8 million to 5.1 million over the five years.
