BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 17. The value of goods imported to Azerbaijan reached $4.1 billion in the first two months of 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee indicates that the state sector's share of imports amounted to around $1.8 billion. This marks an increase of $1.5 billion, or 5.7 times more, compared to the same period last year.
In January 2024 alone, Azerbaijan imported goods worth $2.4 billion, with the state sector accounting for around $308 million of that total.
To note, Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover hit the ground running at $8.9 billion in the first two months of 2025.
This figure denotes a surge of $1.7 billion, equating to a 23.2
percent escalation, relative to the corresponding timeframe of the
previous year, during which the foreign trade turnover was recorded
at $7.2 billion.
Throughout the designated reporting interval, the export metrics
reached a substantial $4.8 billion, while the import figures were
recorded at $4.1 billion. The import valuation has escalated by
$1.7 billion, reflecting a substantial uptick of 69.2 percent,
whereas the export figures experienced a marginal contraction of
$13 million, equating to a decrement of 0.3 percent.
In the interim, Azerbaijan's external trade operations yielded a
favorable balance of $628 million during the specified timeframe,
reflecting a contraction of $1.7 billion, or a factor of 3.7, in
comparison to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal
year.
