ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 22. The Ministry of
Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports on the
preparations for spring fieldwork in the Ulytau region of
Kazakhstan, Trend
reports.
The Ulytau region is actively preparing for spring fieldwork. It is
expected that in 2025, over 32,000 hectares of land will be sown
with agricultural crops, which will help ensure food security for
the region.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, in a region
where around 40 farming households are engaged in crop production,
the following crop planting plan is expected: Wheat will occupy
22,000 hectares, barley 1,800 hectares, forage crops 3,500
hectares, and vegetables and potatoes 1,000 hectares. Special
attention will be given to irrigated lands, which will cover an
area of 1,000 hectares.
About 2,500 tons of seeds will be needed for the sowing of grain
crops. As part of state support for the development of crop
production, 141.1 million tenge (approximately $268,090) has been
allocated.
“The machinery involved in the sowing campaign includes 70
tractors, 220 seeders, 2 seeding complexes, 37 units of cargo
equipment, and about 200 units of auxiliary equipment. The
readiness of agricultural machinery is 100 percent, which indicates
the region's full preparedness for fieldwork,” said the
ministry.
In 2024, chemical treatment against locust pests was carried out on
an area of 14,900 hectares, and in the current year, treatment on
24,312 hectares is planned.
