ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 7. Spring fieldwork in Kazakhstan is proceeding according to agro-technical timelines, with nearly 2.1 million hectares of farmland already sown across the country's regions, Trend reports, via the nation's Ministry of Agriculture.
According to the ministry, the campaign is progressing most
actively in the southern regions of the country.
In the Turkestan region of Kazakhstan, 449,200 hectares have been
sown; in the Zhambyl region - 306,000 hectares; in the Zhetysu
region - 292,600 hectares; and in the Almaty region - 187,900
hectares.
Sowing has also begun in other regions:
East Kazakhstan — 156,300 hectares
Abay region — 138,800 hectares
Kostanay — 85,000 hectares
Akmola — 74,800 hectares
Kyzylorda — 52,500 hectares
Pavlodar — 56,900 hectares, among others.
As part of the spring fieldwork preparations, major agro-technical measures have been carried out:
Moisture retention on 16,700,000 hectares
Pre-sowing tillage on 6,100,000 hectares
Spring plowing on 1,700,000 hectares
According to the ministry's data, the areas sown with various crops so far include:
Grain crops — 942,100 hectares
Fodder crops — 242,800 hectares
Oilseeds — 492,000 hectares
Cotton — 118,800 hectares
Vegetables — 71,800 hectares
Melons — 57,700 hectares
Potatoes — 32,500 hectares
Sugar beets — 15,600 hectares
Rice — 26,300 hectares.
Meanwhile, to ensure timely and efficient sowing, contracts have been signed for the supply of 866,800 tons of mineral fertilizers. Additionally, 401,000 tons of diesel fuel have been allocated at a price of 254 tenge per liter, which is 15 percent below market rate.
Moreover, the seed requirement for the current year is 2.3 million tons, with 100 percent of the needed volume secured. Laboratory testing has confirmed that 99 percent of the seeds meet quality standards.
The ministry continues to monitor the progress of the spring field campaign and provides the necessary methodological and organizational support to the regions.
