BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 19. A target has been set to transport 5 million tons of cargo per year via the Caspian Sea route between Iran and Russia, Iran's Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Chairman of the Ports and Maritime Organization, Saeed Rasouli, said, Trend reports.
He made the announcement at a meeting of Caspian countries in Rasht.
According to him, this goal, although challenging, is achievable. To this end, both countries should increase cargo turnover and the number of maritime transport vehicles.
Rasouli stated that to develop maritime cooperation between the two countries, a decision was made to establish a joint consortium for maritime cooperation in the Caspian Sea.
Meanwhile, on November 18, a two-day forum of Caspian countries began in Rasht (Gilan Province, northern Iran).
