Azerbaijan, Baku, December 1/ Trend , corr N. Ismayilova/ The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) forecasts 20% rise in inflation in Azerbaijan in 2009, according to the November report of the Bank.
This is the highest indicator as compared to the forecast for the remaining 27 countries covered by the report. The average growth of consumer index is forecast at 8.6% in all countries.
In October 2008, International Finance Cooperation (IFC) forecast almost in all reports 20% growth in inflation for Azerbaijan. International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts drop in consumer inflation from 22.4% in 2008 to 20% in 2009 for the Near East and Central Asia.
The highest indicator of inflation at world scale is expected in the Caucasus and Central Asia with an average level of 17%. The maximum level of inflation over 20% is forecast for Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
According to forecast of the Azerbaijani government, in 2009 the inflation rate will be 12%-14% with the absence of an impact of any foreign shock on consumer prices.
