Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 30 / Trend , U.Ismayilova /
The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee is developing a project to improve customs procedures in the country together with the World Bank, SCC head Aydin Aliyev said on Jan. 30.
"We have met WB experts. They voiced an interest in the single-window checkpoint system," Aliyev said.
Further steps to implement the project are under review. The first stage envisages analyzing the single-window system. Proposals to implement customs-services projects will be developed jointly with the WB.
"The WB said the introducing the single-window system is a relevant step in developing entrepreneurship and transport corridors," Aliyev added.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev issued a decree to introduce the single-window principle from Jan. 1, 2009 during commodities and vehicles inspections at state border crossings. The decree states that attention must be paid to Azerbaijan's border capacity due to the North-South transport corridor.
