Announcing Georgia reformer number one will enable the country to draw in new investments despite global economic crisis, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said at a governmental meeting on April 22.
"This means recognizing our successful economic reforms and reasonable steps. It gives hopes for new investments as Georgia's reforms were assessed by the strongest financial institute all over the world," he said.
"Georgia will draw in investments as a result. We have a chance to overcome crisis in the coming months," Saakashvili said.
"Country's reforms were appreciated despite anti-Georgia campaign," President said.
"Though reforms have been implemented in many countries, we could outperform all of them," he said.
The President said the world economic crisis has caused economic downturn. "But situation is improving and new investments will be made. We should take advantage of it," he said.
Saakashvili said Georgian banks will resume lending in a restricted form in June. "Georgia has good economic perspectives based on good macroeconomic indicators," Saakashvili said.
"Georgia must become oasis for entire region with respect to economic development," he said.
