Iran has released today its largest oil tanker in Bushehr province, Sadra Shipyard Director Salman Zarbi said, Fars reported.
The ceremony of releasing the new giant tanker was attended by the Bushehr mayor, representatives of Venezuela's oil company, Sadra Shipyard Director and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's representative in Bushehr.
Last week Sadra Shipyard Director Salman Zarbi told journalists that Venezuela ordered 4 Aframax tankers with capacity of 94,000 tons each in 2007 and Iran made some changes bringing tanker's capacity to 113,000 tons.
The length of the tanker is 250 meters, width - 44 meters, height - 21 meters and draught - 14.8 meters.
The manufacturing cost of each tanker is some 57 million Euro. Iran currently is conducting work on the second tanker.
Speaking at the ceremony, Zarbi noted that despite heavy sanctions put on Iran, the Islamic Republic managed to finish the work on the first tanker.
