Kazakh commodity exchange sees growth in grain sale-purchase transactions

In September-November 2017 on the Eurasian Trade System (the ETCS Commodity Exchange) of Kazakhstan, the total turnover of grain (wheat and barley) purchase and sale deals on different supply bases exceeded the volume of transactions recorded during the same period of 2017 by 74 percent and hit 33 billion tenge.

Over the same period of 2016, the total amount of transactions for the purchase and sale of wheat and barley was 19 billion tenge.

During the autumn season of 2017, wheat worth more than 26.4 billion tenge, and barley- 6.5 billion tenge were sold. The average weighted price per ton of wheat of 3rd grade was 51,213 tenge. The figure increased by 16 percent, year on year.

The average weighted price of L class wheat of this year's harvest, without VAT on the export basis of DAP (station Saryagash) was 49,732 tenge per ton. This is 6 percent lower than the weighted average price of L class wheat of harvest of 2016, which was sold at 52,719 tenge per ton last fall.

The official exchange rate on Dec. 27 is 332 KZT / USD.
