The second runway of Istanbul's Sabiha Gokcen Airport will be put into operation at the end of 2019, Trend reports referring to Turkey's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure on Jan. 14.
The ministry noted that the construction of the second runway began in 2015 as part of an agreement between Turkey's General Directorate of State Airports and the Ministry of National Defense.
"The length of the second runway of Sabiha Gokcen Airport is 3,500 meters and the first phase of the runway's construction has been completed. Presently, the second phase of construction is underway, which is also completed by 67 percent," the ministry said.
The ministry noted that the total cost of the project is 4.853 billion Turkish liras.
