In the first nine months of 2018, the share of small and medium-sized businesses in the structure of the economy of Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, amounted to 61 percent, Trend reports referring to the Kazakh media.
According to Astana mayor’s office, this is an increase of 19.5 percent compared to the same period of 2017.
"Astana has secured its leadership among the regions in terms of share of small and medium-sized businesses in the structure of the economy. The capital ahead of schedule fulfilled the task set by the head of state to provide 50 percent of the share of small and medium-sized businesses in the gross regional product until 2050," Alisher Abdykadyrov, head of the Investments and Entrepreneurship Development Department of Astana, said at a briefing.
He added that the mayor’s office carries out consistent work to simplify various procedures for doing business.
It should be noted that in 2018 the number of business entities in Astana amounted to 125,000, 30 percent up compared to 2017. Last year, more than 13,000 small and medium-sized businesses were registered in the capital of Kazakhstan.
