Subsidiary company of Kazakhstan’s Samruk Energy will construct a wind park in an energy-deficient southern region of Kazakhstan, Trend reports with reference to press office of the company.
The project is being realized by Energiya Semirechya company in Shelek settlement of Almaty region. The capacity of the park is to equal to 60 MW with a potential increase to 300 MW.
“This region is considered to be energy-deficient. Currently due to the scarcity of its own generating capacity, only 50 percent of the local demand is provided for by Almaty region’s energy sources,” the report said.
“The construction of the wind park in Shelek corridor will provide for decrease of СО2 emissions by 206,000 tons a year, as well as for substitution of 89,000 tons of fuel equivalent a year. Thus, the wind park will allow to produce enough electricity to meet the demand with minimal harm to the environment,” the report said.
During the construction, 300 new places will be created and 14 permanent jobs following the launch of the park. The wind park is to produce over 225 million kWh of electricity a year. The construction is to be finished in 2020.
Furthermore, the park will consist of 24 wind turbines with a total capacity of 60 MW. The park will be operated by hardware and software complex with automatized system of wind park management. The benefit of this model is usage within cold continental climate, seismic activity of 10 points and class-2 wind.
