Turkmenistan should become Romania's first trading partner in Central Asia, the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism of Romania told Trend.
The ministry said that Romania wants to extend the partnership with Turkmenistan for the development of economic projects, both at the bilateral and regional levels.
Furthermore, the Romanian ministry noted the desire of its side to expand cooperation in other sectors than natural gas, respectively in IT, infrastructure and construction.
“We reiterate that Romania wants to expand cooperation in other sectors than natural gas, respectively in IT, infrastructure, and construction,” said the ministry.
Also, Romania encourages bilateral cooperation with Turkmenistan in the fields of energy and transport.
“It is important for Romania, through its companies, to obtain and carry out economic and commercial contracts in Turkmenistan.”
Moreover, talking about the plans for 2021, the ministry said that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, in August 2020 took place only the online meeting between the co-chairs of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, Virgil-Daniel Popescu, Minister of Economy, Energy, and Business Environment of Romania, and Muhammetgeldi Serdarov, Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan and the 8th Session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission was postponed for 2021.
“The online meeting represented a continuation of the dialogue between our countries, designed to contribute to the development of the bilateral cooperation on multiple levels,” concluded the Romanian ministry.
