BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 5. Iran imported about 13,300 tons of goods worth more than $14.6 million from Turkmenistan during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), Trend reports.
According to the data of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), the imports increased by 1.97 percent in value, while decreasing by 39.8 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.
Thus, Iran’s imports from Turkmenistan stood at 22,000 tons worth approximately $14.4 million in the same period last year.
Over 5 months, Iran mainly imported petroleum coke, cotton, fabric, etc. from Turkmenistan.
Meanwhile, in the 5th month alone (July 23 through August 22, 2023), Iran imported 2,690 tons of goods worth approximately $3.52 million from Turkmenistan.
Overall, Iran imported 14.4 million tons of goods worth $24.2 billion within the first 5 months of the current Iranian year.
This is an increase of 7.49 percent in value and 2.17 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
