The State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) is the only full member of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI). SOFAZ was given this status at the 4th international conference on EITI in Doha, Qatar in February 2009, SOFAZ Executive Director Shamar Movsumov said.
"The meeting of EITI international board will be held in Washington in May," Movsumov said.
The full member status was given to SOFAZ after examination of the process of implementation of Azerbaijan's initiative by the Coffey International Development company.
The EITI international board has chose seven great companies to assess the process of implementation of participating countries' initiative -Coffey Int. Dev. Ltd., ECON, The IDL Group, Goldwyn Int Strategies, Hart Nurse Limited, Oxford Policy Management, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Accountability.
Fifteen countries of EITI, including Azerbaijan, were given the candidate status at the 3rd meeting of the EITI international board in Oslo on Sept. 27, 2007.
