The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan plans to start constructing for recycling in 2011, Yagub Agasiyev, chief engineer of SOCAR Ecology Department, said.
He said that a U.S company, Mİ-LLC, is presently preparing a feasibility study for this project.
"The preparation of a feasibility study is under completion. A working draft will be prepared. The construction work will be launched in 2011," Agasiyev said.
He also noted that the new center will be established on the basis of the old one. The new center will focus on refining oil sludge and about 62 kinds of solid, including both household and industrial waste.
The contract for the feasibility study was signed by the MI-LLC and SOCAR companies on May 20. SOCAR vice-president for ecology Soltan Aliyev, and MI-LLC vice president Sven Maikranz also signed the document.
The work forms part of the grant agreement signed between SOCAR and the American Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) to the amount of $572,000. The agreement was signed on August 13, 2009.
