Iran 's aluminum ingots output in the eleven-month period ended February 19, hit 276,000 tons or up by seven percent compared to the corresponding period last year, BORNA News Agency reported.
Iran produced 258,275 tons of aluminum ingots during the same period of the last year (ended March 21, 2010).
According to Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), Iran's aluminum ingots export increased by 35, 5 percent to $315 million during the mentioned period.
Iran exported some 131,728 tons of aluminum worth roughly $234 million during the same period of the last year.
The largest and the most advanced aluminum plant of Iran, Hormozal, was inaugurated in the southern city of Bandar Abbas on January 9, 2010.
Hormozal aluminum plant with the annual production capacity of 147,000 tons came on stream at the cost of 400 million euros in imports of services and parts and about 2 trillion rials ($200 million) in domestic cost.
The 230 KA technology has been applied in the project, IMIDRO said in a statement.
Hormozal would add some 47 percent to the country's annual production capacity, boosting it to 457,000 tons.
The plant is a joint venture between Iran and Italy.
