The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) plans to complete the drilling of a high-output production well on the March 8 Field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea this summer.
"Drilling is successfully underway and will be completed in the summer," a SOCAR source said.
He said the well's depth has reached 5,627 of the designed 5,800 meters. Expected daily output is about 350,000 cubic meters of gas and 40 tons of condensate. At present, more than 400,000 cubic meters of gas are produced daily from the field. The company's geologists have already determined nine points for further drilling, SOCAR said.
There are 59 oil and gas fields in Azerbaijan. About 18 are offshore.
