The second phase of construction of the Petlim container port in Turkey will be completed in 2017, head of SOCAR Turkey Energy, Zaur Gahramanov told reporters June 1.
He noted that the first phase of the port's construction has already been completed.
"We are in the process of transferring the project to the Dutch company APM Terminals," he said.
The construction is going on in line with the schedule, said Gahramanov, adding that the port's total shipment capacity will be around 1.5 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) after the completion of the second phase, while currently it stands at 800,000 TEUs.
Currently, 10 large container ports operate in Turkey.
Turkish petrochemical complex Petkim and the Dutch APM Terminals inked an agreement for the construction of the Petlim port in March 2013.
