Iran's electricity exports increased by 27.6 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019), Trend reports citing Electrical Power Equipment Manufacturing and Provision Company’s (SATKAB) website.
According to the report, Iran exported 8.31 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to neighboring countries the last year.
“Last year, 82.8 percent of Iran's electricity exports went to Iraq, 9.7 percent to Afghanistan and 6.4 percent to Pakistan,” report noted.
“Iran exported 6.65 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to Iraq last year. This is an increase of 34.6 percent compared to the preceding year,” report said.
According to the report, Iran exported 775 million kilowatt-hours of electricity to Afghanistan, 516 million kilowatt-hours to Pakistan and 33 million kilowatt-hours to Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Iran imported 1.32 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity last year, with 34 million kilowatt-hours of electricity imported from the Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
“The electricity exports increased by 19 percent from the beginning of the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020) to May 4, compared to the same period last Iranian year,” the company said.
According to the report, during this period, 436 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were exported.
