A new record was set in the daily LPG exports of the 10th, 11th, and 12th refineries of Iran’s South Pars Gas Company (SPGC), said Ali Ahmadi, the Head of Coordination and Monitoring of South Pars Gas Company, Trend reports citing the company’s website.
The official stressed that thus, 5,100 tons of LPG were exported on December 31, 2020.
He added that the 11th refinery can process 3,000 tons of LPG daily. The refinery processed about 37,000 tons of LPG during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through December 20, 2020).
Ahmadi noted that in addition, the 12th refinery can process 3,000 tons of LPG per day. This refinery processed 126,000 tons of LPG within the 9 months.
However, Ahmadi did not specify the amount of LPG produced at the 10th refinery.
The 10th refinery of the SPGC processes the gas extracted from the 19th phase of the South Pars gas field. The refinery has the potential to produce 50 million cubic meters of sweet gas, 77,000 barrels of gas condensate, 2,400 tons of ethane, 1,800 tons of propane, 1,100 tons of butane, and 320 tons of sulfur per day.
The 11th refinery of the SPGC processes the gas extracted from the 13th phase of the South Pars gas field. The refinery can produce 50 million cubic meters of sweet gas, 80,000 barrels of gas condensate, 2,900 tons of LPG gas, 2,750 tons of ethane, 400 tons of sulfur per day.
The 12th refinery of the SPGC processes the gas extracted from the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th phases of the South Pars gas field.
The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran has so far spent $80 billion on projects of the South Pars gas field.
Iran extracted 570 million cubic meters of gas per day from this field in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019, to March 20, 2020).
The South Pars gas field has the potential to produce daily 700 million cubic meters of gas and Iran is currently extracting 630 million cubic meters of gas per day from the gas field.
