The use of smart fuel cards has already been resumed offline at more than 3,000 filling stations in Iran, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji said in a press conference, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.
The minister stressed that a cyber attack on the system of smart fuel cards took place at Iranian gas stations on Oct .26, thus creating disruption in the work of filling stations.
Owji added that work is underway to eliminate the problem.
“Iran has sufficient reserves of gasoline and diesel. In this regard, Iran will begin exporting gasoline and other petroleum products in the coming weeks,” he said.
Reportedly, there are more than 4,000 filling stations in Iran.
Every citizen in Iran can buy 1 liter of gasoline for 15,000 rials (about $0.35) with a fuel card.
According to the working mechanism of cars in Iran, every month the fuel card is loaded with 60-500 liters of gasoline (60 liters in private cars, 500 liters in ambulances).
The gasoline is sold freely in the country for 30,000 rials (about $0.71) per liter.
