BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 8. The Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan revealed a 3.3 percent increase in gas production in the country from January through March 2024, year on year, Trend reports via the ministry.

According to the ministry, 12.6 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas were produced in the reporting period, up 400 million cubic meters from the same period in 2023.

Meanwhile, 6.9 bcm of gas were produced from the Shah Deniz field (growth of three percent), 400 million cubic meters from the Absheron field (no comparison since the production has been ongoing since July 2023), and 3.3 bcm from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field.

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) independently produced two bcm of gas from non-contract fields (a 9.1 percent decrease).

To note, gas production in Azerbaijan amounted to 48.5 billion cubic meters (an increase of 3.8 percent) in 2023.

The Azerbaijani government expects gas production to exceed 49 bcm in 2024, with 36.78 bcm of marketable gas.
