Czech Republic, Croatia turn into major consumers of Azerbaijani oil

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 16. The Czech Republic and Croatia have hit the ground running, ramping up oil imports from Azerbaijan and climbing into the top 5 customers, a feat that was out of reach last year.

The data obtained by Trend from the country's State Customs Committee (based on customs declarations) shows that the Czech Republic bought over 1.165 million tons of oil from Azerbaijan worth $738.8 million from January through August 2024.

However, in the same period of 2023, the Czech Republic bought 916,800 tons worth $530 million.

As for Croatia, the SCC reported its purchase of more than 1.005 million tons of Azerbaijani oil worth $627 million from January through August 2024, while in the same period of 2023, this European country purchased 621,960 tons of Azerbaijani oil worth $355.4 million.

In general, Azerbaijan sold 16.476 million tons of oil to 23 nations in the first eight months of 2024, earning $10.3 billion.
