BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 31. Azerbaijan's installed solar photovoltaic power capacity (Solar PV) reached 293 megawatts by 2024, the 24th edition of the World Energy Review published by Italian Eni said, Trend reports.
The report highlights that installed solar capacity grew steadily from zero in 2010, reaching 5 megawatts by 2015, 33 megawatts in 2019, 35 megawatts in 2020, 48 megawatts in 2021, and 51 megawatts in 2022.
The breakthrough came in 2023, when installed capacity surged more than fivefold to 282 megawatts, followed by a further rise to 293 megawatts by 2024.
While the pace of expansion slowed slightly in 2024, growing by just 3.9 percent, the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2010-2024 stood at a striking 63.5 percent.
According to operational data for the first half of 2025, electricity production in the republic increased by 291.5 million kilowatt-hours, or 2.2 percent, to 13.8 billion kilowatt-hours.
Of this, 11.5 billion kWh was generated at thermal power plants, 1.9 billion kWh at hydropower facilities, and about 470.1 million kWh from other sources, including 314.6 million kWh from solar, 21 million kWh from wind, and 134.5 million kWh from the solid waste incineration plant.
Compared to the same period of the previous year, electricity generation from renewable sources grew by 297.2 million kWh, reaching 2.3 billion kWh.
