BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 20. Cargo transportation by rail amounted to 9.2 million tons in Azerbaijan from January through June 2023, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, cargo transportation by rail increased by 6.8 percent to 3.2 million people compared to the period from January through June 2022, and passenger transportation increased by 52.2 percent.
The share of railway transport accounted for 8.4 percent of all freight traffic during the reporting period.
On average, the number of loaded railway cars per day was 421; the number of unloaded cars was 415.
Cargo transportation by all means of transport amounted to 109.2 million tons in Azerbaijan from January through June 2023, which is 6.4 percent higher compared to the same period in 2022.
Passenger traffic in Azerbaijan exceeded 894.4 million people during the reporting period, which is 17.3 percent higher in comparison with the same period in 2022.
