On April 1, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Alfred Stern, CEO of the Austrian company Borealis, Trend reports via the official website of the Kazakh president.
Noting the importance of cooperation with the company, the head of state stressed the special significance of the implementation of large projects in Kazakhstan.
"I would like to exchange views with you on topical issues on the agenda of our cooperation and, above all, on the construction of a gas chemical complex in the Atyrau region, which we will implement," Tokayev said, noting that Kazakhstan is aimed at a close and productive partnership with Borealis.
During the meeting, the head of state was informed about the main projects of the company in Kazakhstan and the prospects for their implementation.
Stern, noting the high level of cooperation, thanked the president for the opportunity to work in the country and the support provided.
It should be noted that Borealis is the second largest producer of polyethylene and polypropylene in Europe. The company's shareholders are Mubadala (UAE) – 64 percent and OMV (Austria) – 36 percent.
Last year, the Energy Ministry of Kazakhstan, the National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna and Borealis signed a memorandum on the basic conditions of cooperation in the construction of an integrated gas chemical complex in the Atyrau region of Kazakhstan.
