Another HIV case diagnosed in outbreak in South Kazakhstan

(gazeta.kz) - A new HIV case has been diagnosed in South Kazakhstan. It is a mother of an HIV-infected child, reports Trend.

"Last week a new HIV case was diagnosed, so we have nine HIV-positive mothers," - Natalia Babina, chief physician of the regional AIDS centre, told Kazakhstan Today correspondent.

According to her, the HIV-infected woman was revealed after a second test. "Obviously during the first test this woman got into the "grew window," - she said.

Today 81 HIV-infected children and nine mothers were revealed. The regional healthcare department made a decision to extend the range of citizens tested for the HIV. Besides, the regional healthcare department once more drew attention of medical workers to a necessity to follow the order of the Ministry of Health of RK No.575 "On approval of rules of medical tests in order to reveal HIV" as of 11 June, 2002, that prescribes mandatory clinical tests patients.
