BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 12. Kyrgyzstan from January through August 2022 imported electricity from Turkmenistan in the amount of $34.1 million, Trend reports citing the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.
According to the Committee, the volume of Turkmenistan's electricity exports to Kyrgyzstan in the first 8 months of this year amounted to 1.2 billion kWh.
Earlier this month, Taalaibek Ibraev, Acting Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, announced at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) that Kyrgyzstan plans to import 2 billion kWh of electricity from Turkmenistan in 2023.
Meanwhile, the trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan from January through August 2022 increased by 2.5 times over the same period in 2021 ($20 million) - up to $50.7 million.
