BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 7. The value of production in Kyrgyzstan's processing sector amounted to 79.123 billion soms ($892.209 million) from January through March 2024, which is a 17 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the processing sector accounted for 69.1 percent of the total industrial production in the country. The volume of the processing industry increased by 5.1 percent in January–March 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.
Primary metals and finished metal products, excluding machinery and equipment, amounted to 47.419 billion soms ($534.707 million), accounting for 59.9 percent of the processing sector total value.
The production of food products (including beverages) and tobacco products amounted to 16.280 billion soms ($183.577 million), constituting 20.6 percent of the sector's total value.
Furthermore, the production of rubber and plastic products, along with other non-metallic mineral products, amounted to 6.512 billion soms ($73.430 million), accounting for 8.2 percent of the total. Textile manufacturing, clothing and footwear production, leather, and other leather products contributed 3.960 billion soms ($44.653 million), representing 5 percent of the total.
Additionally, the production of refined petroleum products totaled 1.157 billion soms ($13.046 million), comprising 1.5 percent of the overall value.
Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan reached 114.5 billion soms ($1.284 billion) from January through March 2024, which is a 4.5 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
