BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, June 27. Kyrgyzstan's processing enterprises recorded a total production value of 142.989 billion soms ($1.649 billion) from January through May 2024, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the overall physical volume index for the industry during January to May 2024 compared to the same period in 2023 was 103.5 percent.
Significant increases were noted in the production of refined petroleum products, which rose by 1.6 times. This growth was driven by increases in gasoline production (up by 3.7 times), fuel oil (by 42.3 percent), and diesel fuel (by 23.0 percent).
In the manufacturing of wood and paper products, and in printing activities, a growth of 26.6 percent was observed. This was supported by increased production of paper and cardboard (up by 5.8 percent) and printing activities (up by 1.6 times).
Moreover, there was a 15.9 percent increase in textile production, clothing and footwear manufacturing, and leather and other leather goods production. This growth was fueled by a rise in clothing production (up by 19.6 percent).
Additionally, the production of food products (including beverages) and tobacco products saw a 21.6 percent increase. This was driven by higher production levels in beer (up by 1.5 times), meat products (by 29.3 percent), non-alcoholic beverages and mineral waters (by 26.6 percent), processing and preservation of fruits and vegetables (by 25.2 percent), and bakery products (by 8.9 percent).
Pharmaceutical production saw a 14.2 percent increase, led by a higher output of medicinal products (up by 13.5 percent), vitamins and provitamins (up by 1.5 times).
Production volumes also rose in rubber and plastic products, and other non-metallic mineral products, increasing by 8.1 percent due to higher production of construction materials (up by 7.2 percent). Glass and glassware production increased by 20.4 percent.
However, the output of non-ferrous metals fell by eight percent.
Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan reached 195 billion soms ($2.242 billion) from January through May 2024, which is a 2.6 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
