Kyrgyzstan's passenger car imports from South Korea slide down

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 11. Kyrgyzstan imported 20,281 passenger cars from South Korea from January through July 2024, which is 28.5 percent less than during the same months in 2023 (28,380 cars).

According to data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the value of these imports totaled $145.82 million, which is a decrease of 40.1 percent compared to the $234.531 million recorded in January-July 2023.

South Korea was the second-largest supplier of passenger cars to Kyrgyzstan during this period versus China, which was the leading exporter, with 42,617 cars imported for a total of $664 million. The US was the third-largest exporter, with 4,217 cars worth $75.457 million.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan imported 81,235 passenger cars from January through July 2024, which is 14 percent more than the 71,005 cars imported during the same period in 2023. The total value of these imports was $1.203 billion, an increase of 6.2 percent compared to the $1.133 billion for the same period last year.

Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover from January through July 2024 amounted to $8.8 billion, which is a 4.7 percent increase year on year. Exports decreased by 3.7 percent to $1.6 billion, while imports increased by 6.7 percent to $7.217 billion.
