BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 11. Ground transport in Kyrgyzstan carried 164.1 million passengers from January through March 2025.
The data obtained by Trend from the National Statistical Committee indicates that bus transport remained the dominant mode, serving 153.134 million passengers, which is a 21.3 percent year-on-year increase.
Taxi services transported 9.269 million passengers (up 3.5 percent), while railway transport handled 65,500 passengers — a 28.2 percent rise compared to the first quarter of 2024.
In contrast, trolleybus ridership sharply declined, totaling only 1.664 million passengers in the first quarter of 2025, down from 6.318 million a year earlier — a decrease of nearly 74 percent.
As many as 164.4 million passengers were transported in Kyrgyzstan from January through March 2025, which is a 15.9 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024 (141.8 million people). Air transport accounted for about 285,200 passengers during the reporting period.
The total passenger turnover for all modes of transport grew by 174.2 million passenger-kilometers, or 7.3 percent year-on-year, reaching 2.5 billion passenger-kilometers in the first quarter of 2025.
