Trade turnover between Tajikistan, Kazakhstan grows

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 9. Trade between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan reached $780.7 million from January through August 2024, which is a 6 percent increase compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

According to the Committee of State Revenues of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan, the country's exports to Tajikistan over these eight months amounted to 1.6 million tons, or $613.2 million, which is a 15.5 percent increase from the same period in 2023.

The main breadwinner in exports was wheat, raking in a hefty 629,100 tons and a cool $154.5 million to boot.

There were significant increases in exports of sunflower, safflower, and soybean oils, reaching 44,800 tons, an increase of 8.2 percent. Exports of aluminum oxide rose by 40.5 percent, totaling 105,400 tons, while iron and steel rod exports increased by 1.5 times to 36,800 tons.

Conversely, exports of liquefied gas declined by 4 percent, totaling 211,300 tons.

During the same period, 220,800 tons of goods were imported, amounting to $167.5 million, a decrease of 19.4 percent compared to the same months of the previous year.

Imports of lead, copper, and zinc ores and concentrates fell by 12.3 percent to 106,500 tons, as did the supply of children's scooters and skateboards, which decreased by 32.6 percent to 46,000units.
