ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 25. The growth rate of cotton production by industrial enterprises in the Lebap region of Turkmenistan from January through June this year amounted to 20.8 percent year-on-year, Trend reports.
According to the data, in the first half of this year, enterprises in the region produced over 40,400 tons of cotton fiber due to the processing of raw materials.
Furthermore, enterprises in the Lebap region also produced a large volume of cotton yarn in value terms during the reporting period, which amounted to 190.6 million Turkmen manat ($54.5 million).
Meanwhile, the cotton sector is one of the crucial industries of Turkmenistan's economy and has a long-standing history in the nation.
Turkmenistan is renowned for its vast cotton fields and premium cotton, making this industry a significant source of revenue and jobs for the populace.
