Chinese company verges e-bus production in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, January 8. First Deputy Transport Minister of Uzbekistan Mamanbiy Omarov held a meeting with the CEO of China's Dongfeng Motor Corporation Wang Peng, Trend reports.

According to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Transport, the meeting was held to exchange views on projects implemented in Uzbekistan to develop the public transport system, existing needs, and the need to upgrade the rolling stock with modern buses and minibuses, projects implemented with the participation of foreign companies.

Dongfeng Motor Corporation plans to implement in the Furqat district of the Fergana region a project on the production of electric buses in two stages. The project's value is estimated at $100 million, with an annual capacity of 1,000 units.

Earlier, chairman of the Committee for Development of the Silk and Wool Industry, Ikboljon Ergashev, met with a representative of the Chinese company Anhui Mulberry Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Liu Qinghu.

At the meeting, the sides discussed issues of attracting Chinese investments to Uzbekistan, including the construction of a new cocoon processing enterprise, the creation of mulberry plantations, and jobs.
