TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, August 19. Uzbekistan and Malaysian Sunview Group will build a solar power plant with a capacity of 200 megawatts in the Fergana district, Trend reports.
The news followed a meeting between the governor of the Fergana region Khairullo Bozorov and a delegation of Malaysian Sunview Group representatives.
The project, worth $150 million, will be implemented based on the principle of a public-private partnership with direct investment from Sunview Group.
During the meeting, the sides agreed on electricity tariff rates and other terms of the project. Construction work on the project will start in the fourth quarter of this year.
Meanwhile, under the guidance of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan, the construction of a 500-megawatt solar power plant has started in the Beshariq district of the Fergana region.
German Hyper Partners will be involved in the joint building of the plant.
The first 200 megawatts of the $350 million project will be connected to the grid this year and fully launched next year. The plant will generate 1.6 billion kWh of green energy per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of 675,000 households. As a result, 466 million cubic meters of natural gas will be saved.
