TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 19. Uzbekistan's Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex, Chinese Yunnan Xinchengpeng Polymer Technology company and Uzbekistan's Techno Cable Group signed an agreement for the production of cross-linked polyethylene (PE-X) materials, Trend reports.
Based on these documents, a joint venture named NASAF XCP TECHNO has been established. This project aims to manufacture a product that was previously unavailable in Uzbekistan, covering the domestic market's annual demand of 25,000 to 30,000 tons with locally produced goods.
With a hefty investment of $8 million, this project is set to cut imports by a whopping $30 million each year, create 65 new jobs, and give a much-needed boost to the domestic industry.
Cross-linked polyethylene (PE-X) is known for being stronger, more flexible, and more resistant to high temperatures compared to regular polyethylene. It is used in water and gas pipelines, heating systems, and electrical insulation.
In 2024, the Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex processed 137,600 tons of polyethylene pellets (110 percent), exceeding production plans.
