BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 9. Iran's non-oil commercial turnover with the 56 OIC members rose 15 percent in value and 10 percent in weight in the first five months (March 20–August 21, 2024) compared to last year, Iran's Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance and Director of the Customs Administration, Mohammad Rezvanifar stated, Trend reports.
According to Rezvanifar, with 42.3 million tons, Iran's non-oil trade with OIC countries reached $26.7 billion. He noted that Iran managed to export an impressive $13.5 billion worth of non-oil products, amounting to a total of 33.6 million tons during this period. The export value saw a 16 percent increase, with the weight also rising by 8 percent compared to the previous year.
On the other hand, Iran purchased goods valued at $13.2 billion and weighing 8.7 million tons from OIC countries. There has been a significant increase in value and weight over the past year.
Rezvanifar noted that the majority of Iran's non-oil trade within the OIC was concentrated with five countries: the UAE, Türkiye, Iraq, Pakistan, and Oman, accounting for $24 billion of the total turnover.
In total, Iran exported non-oil products valued at $21.9 billion and weighing 60.5 million tons over the five-month period, showing a 10 percent increase in value and a 7 percent rise in weight year on year.
Imports of non-oil products were valued at $26.3 billion and totaled 15.7 million tons, reflecting a 5.53 percent increase in value and a 7.93 percent increase in weight compared to the previous year.
