Iran's non-oil trade turnover with neighboring countries soars

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 24. Iran's non-oil trade turnover with 15 neighboring countries (with land and water borders) increased by 15 percent in value and 5 percent in weight during the six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through September 22, 2023), Iran's Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance and Director General of Customs Administration Mohammad Rezvanifar said, Trend reports.

According to him, Iran's non-oil trade turnover with neighboring countries amounted to 50 million tons worth $32.6 billion during the six months.

Rezvanifar noted that Iran exported 39 million tons of non-oil products worth 15.6 billion to neighboring countries during the mentioned period. Exports of non-oil products increased by 12 percent in value and 4 percent in weight terms compared to the same period last year.

The official stated that Iran imported 11 million tons of products worth $17 billion from neighboring countries during the six months. Imports of the products increased by 18 percent in value and 8 percent in weight.

“Among neighboring countries, Iran's main trading partners during the six months were the UAE, Türkiye, Iraq, Pakistan, and Russia,” he pointed out.

To note, Iran has been making efforts to increase non-oil trade with neighboring countries in recent years.
