BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14. To address the power shortage, 124 renewable energy power plants capable of generating up to 356 megawatts of electricity are planned to be built in North Khorasan Province in northeastern Iran, Mohammad Reza Ramazani, the executive director of the electricity distribution company in the province, told reporters, Trend reports.
Ramazani explained that of the planned stations, 85 with a capacity of 190 megawatts will be built by the private sector, 26 with 78 megawatts will be constructed by the Electricity Distribution Company of North Khorasan, and 13 with 88 megawatts will be established by the government as part of the planned program.
He further stated that the construction of these stations is expected to encourage investment in renewable energy power plants in the region.
Iran’s total potential for renewable energy production is approximately 1.56 gigawatts, with 810 megawatts coming from solar panels.
