Iran is going to export 2,000 megawatts of electricity to Russia by 2019, according to Arash Kordi, CEO of Tavanir, Iran electricity production and distribution company.
He explained that Russia is currently ready for the transfer of 1,000 megawatts of power via Azerbaijan, Georgia, or Armenia, ISNA news agency reported.
According to Kordi, Iran and Russia's talks on the issue will be finalized in 1,5 months.
Iran's total power production capacity also stood at 73,933 megawatts (MW), about 781 MW more than the previous year. The growth is far less that the targeted plan, which predicted at the beginning of the current fiscal year that the country's power growth would experience a 5-percent growth.
Iran has generated 270.5 billion kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity energy and the net exports reached 5.58 billion kWh.
The electricity consumption increased in all spheres in Iran, excepting industry sector during current year.
The growth in housing power consumption seems to have occurred due to increasing number of households connected to power grid in this year. The number increased by 712,000 to 26.451 million households.
