Share of gas feeding Iran’s power plants decreased from 95 percent in warm season to 55 percent currently as the gas demand in housing sector rose to 560 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d).
During the first half of the current fiscal year, Iran’s housing sector and power plants consumed about 164 mcm/d and 201 mcm/d, respectively.
Iran’s fiscal year started on March 21.
IRNA reported on Nov. 25 that the housing sector’s gas usage reached 560 mcm/d, leading to significant cut in gas deliveries to power sector.
Beside the gas, Iran consumes liquid fuels, like gas oil and fuel oil, in power sector.
IRNA also reported that some CNG facilities stopped their activities in three provinces, which has led to rising gasoline consumption in transportation sector.
Iran’s CNG consumption was above 20 mcm/d during the first half of the current fiscal year.
Iran’s gasoline consumption during March-November was 75 million liters per day on average, but the volume reached 77.8 million liters per day on Nov. 24.
