Iran boosts imports of non-oil products from neighboring countries

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 1. Iran's imports of non-oil products from neighboring countries increased by 13.2 percent in value terms in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023.), Iran's Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance and Director General of Iran's Customs Administration Mohammad Rezvanifar said Trend reports.

According to him, Iran's imports of non-oil products from neighboring countries amounted to about $32.9 billion last Iranian year.

Rezvanifar added that Iran's imports of products from Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, and Bahrain declined in the last Iranian year.

The customs official stated that Iran's imports of products from the UAE, Türkiye, Russia, Oman, Iraq, Qatar, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, and Turkmenistan increased last year.

The deputy minister added that last year, Iran's non-oil trade turnover with neighboring countries amounted to 95.9 million tons worth about $60.8 billion. Iran's trade turnover with neighboring countries increased by 1.35 percent in value terms and decreased by 2.45 percent in weight terms compared to the previous year.

To note, Iran mainly focuses on the import of products needed by the country and imposes certain restrictions on the import of products manufactured in the country.
