BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 28. The liabilities of Georgia’s commercial banks in February 2022 totaled 53.6 billion Georgian lari ($16.7 billion), Trend reports via statistical data of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).
The current figure slightly increased by 2.8 percent, compared to 52.1 billion Georgian lari ($16.2 billion) in January 2022, and by 4.6 percent, compared to 51.2 billion Georgian lari ($16 billion) in February 2021.
Of the total liabilities of Georgian commercial banks in February 2022, the bank deposits amounted to 1 billion Georgian lari ($338.1 million), which is an increase of 44.8 percent, compared to 746.7 million Georgian lari ($233.3 million) in January 2022, and 44.7 percent, compared to 747.5 million Georgian lari ($233.5 million) in February 2021.
Meanwhile, the non-bank deposits amounted to 37.6 billion Georgian lari ($11.7 billion), which is an increase of 2.4 percent, compared to 36.7 billion Georgian lari ($11.4 billion) in January 2022, and 4.4 percent, compared to 36 billion Georgian lari ($11.2 billion) in February 2021.
The accrued interest and dividends payable in February 2022 amounted to 297.9 million Georgian lari ($93 million) of the total liabilities, while borrowed funds totaled 10.5 billion Georgian lari ($3.2 billion), and other liabilities – 4.1 billion Georgian lari ($1.2 billion).
Meanwhile, the total assets of Georgia’s commercial banks in February 2022 totaled 61.6 billion Georgian lari ($19.2 billion) – an increase of 7.5 percent, compared to 57.3 billion Georgian lari ($17.9 billion) over the same period of 2021. The same figure also slightly increased by 2.6 percent, compared to 60 billion Georgian lari ($18.7 billion) in January 2022.
