Jordanian diplomats and embassy staff have been evacuated from Tripoli in the light of the worsening military situation in the North African country, a senior official said in Amman Thursday, dpa reported.
"The decision has been taken due to the current developments of the situation in Libya which could endanger their safety," Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Kayed told German Press Agency dpa.
He said that the move had "no political connotations" and did not mark a change in Jordan's stand on Libya, which "opposes any foreign military intervention on Libyan territory".
