Greek foreign minister says Greece, Turkey aim to boost cooperation

Greek Foreign Minister Dimitrios Droutsas said on Tuesday that Turkey and Greece aimed to boost cooperation, Anadolu Agency reported.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who is currently in Greece, held a press conference with Foreign Minister Droutsas after they had a meeting.

Droutsas said that during the meeting they discussed bilateral matters and international developments.

Droutsas said that Turkey and Greece had similar concerns on developments in the region and Middle East, stating that the situation in Libya could not last like that.

The two countries kept focusing on ties in the areas of trade, economy and tourism, he said.

Turkey and Greece had different aspects for Aegean Sea, he said.

In regard to Turkey-EU relations, Droutsas said that Greece fully supported Turkey's EU bid, but Turkey should fulfill its duties regarding the process and record progress in reforms.

Cyprus issue still affected Turkey's EU perspective and there was need for a progress on the matter under the roof of the United Nations, he said.

Droutsas said that they hoped that Turkey, Greece and Cyprus would work together in line of their interests.
