BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 11. The number of passengers arriving at Ankara-based Esenboga International Airport increased by 37 percent to 11.9 million in December 2023, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.
The ministry's figures showed that the airport's passenger turnover on domestic flights climbed by 35 percent in the reporting month, to 9.9 million people, and by 47 percent on international flights, to 2.8 million people.
Meanwhile, the airport's cargo turnover climbed by 23 percent year on year, totaling 116,209 tons. The airport's cargo turnover for domestic flights climbed by 24 percent year on year to 72,385 tons, while international flights increased by 22 percent year on year to 43,824 tons.
The number of flights operated from the airport increased by 30 percent in December 2023 year-on-year and amounted to 93,480. At the same time, the number of flights performed on domestic flights increased by 30 percent to 69,846 and on international flights increased by 33 percent to 23,202.
The passenger traffic for all airports in Türkiye amounted to 214.59 million people in the reporting month, and cargo turnover was 4.2 million tons.
In addition, the passenger traffic at all airports in Türkiye was 181.9 million people and cargo turnover was 4.4 million tons in 2022.
