BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 9. The influx of passengers touching down at Sabiha Gokcen Airport in June 2024 shot up by a whopping 18 percent compared to the previous year, reaching a staggering 19.8 million individuals, the statement of Türkiye's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.
According to the Ministry, in June 2024, the airport's passenger turnover on domestic flights increased by 21 percent compared to the same period in 2023 and amounted to 9.4 million people, and on international flights, it increased by 15.9 percent and amounted to 10.3 million people.
The airport's cargo traffic in June 2024 was 201,136 tons, an increase of 10 percent compared to the same period in 2023. Furthermore, in June 2024, the airport's cargo traffic on domestic flights increased 7 percent over the same period in 2023 to 59,355 tons, and cargo traffic on international flights increased 12.2 percent over the same period to 141,781 tons.
The information indicates that the number of flights from the airport in June 2024 increased by 9 percent compared to June 2023 and amounted to 117,773. Meanwhile, the number of flights performed for domestic flights increased by 7 percent to 54,983, and for international flights, it increased by 10 percent to 62,979.
The passenger traffic in all airports in Türkiye in June this year amounted to 104.7 million people, and cargo turnover was 2.2 million tons.
To note, passenger traffic at all airports in Türkiye in 2023 was 214 million people, and cargo traffic was 4.2 million tons.
